California Tax Boutique is a fast-growing tax firm located in Sacramento, California, serving businesses and individuals in the United States.  

We are looking to hire a licensed experienced tax preparer to grow with our company!

Responsible for income tax preparation for individuals and companies. Identifies potential tax credits and liabilities, and ensures accurate and complete returns are filed in a timely manner. Completes tax forms in accordance with policies and in compliance with legislation and regulations. Works with clients on resolution strategy and implementation when necessary.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Compute taxes owed by following the tax code.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing simple to complex tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
  • Help taxpayers by using their federal, state, and local codes and see to it that clients receive the maximum benefit permitted under the law of government.
  • Uncover potential deductions and credits.
  • Advise against potential tax liabilities.
  • Ensure clients do not pay unnecessary taxes.
  • Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures.
  • Consult with clients to get a thorough picture of the financial situation.
  • Verify totals on past forms for accuracy.
  • Consult tax law handbooks for particularly difficult tax returns.
  • Recommend additional products and services when applicable and appropriate.
  • Prepare tax returns using electronic filing software.
  • Ensure a copy of the completed return is provided to the customer.


  • Must be able to pass a full background check
  • Must have current and valid PTIN and CTEC
  • Must have the ability to complete a tax return from intake to client delivery with minimal supervision
  • Must have recent experience (or be trainable) completing 1040s with all schedules
  • Must generally be a cool, chill person who enjoys a non-traditional work environment
  • Positive attitude and ability to collaborate with others in a team-based environment
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by our company’s Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Must not be allergic to swearing (the bosses have a mouth on them).


  • Accounting Degree or several years of tax preparation experience
  • Experience with other accounting functions related to bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, and other business accounting tasks
  • Licensed Tax Preparer by IRS and CTEC, Enrolled Agent or CPA licensed in CA, in good standing, with no prior or pending sanctions or litigation


Pay: Starting $38,480-$60,960 with commission structure

Benefits: Flexible schedule, Health insurance, Vision & Dental Insurance, Paid time off, 401K Match

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5 days a week during non-peak season. Any 5 days of the week during tax season, we are open all 7 days.

Supplemental Pay: Performance Bonus, Christmas Bonus, Commission

Ability to Commute/Relocate: Sacramento, CA 95825: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education: High school or equivalent (Required)

License/Certification: Licensed Tax Preparer by IRS and CTEC, CPA, or Enrolled Agent (Preferred, but not required as we are willing to train and assist in obtaining your EA)
