Back Taxes

More often than you think, many taxpayers fall behind on filing their taxes.  Once you fall behind, it can seem impossible to get out from the black cloud of the IRS, but we can help ease your burden.  We specialize in helping taxpayers get back on track with their filing obligations and assist with various options to resolve mounting tax debts.  But, before you can resolve your mounting tax debts, you must first become compliant by filing your deliquent tax returns.  There is not an increased fee for the preparation of back taxes. Please see the personal taxes page for the breakdown of fees. 

Step 1: Determine which tax years need to be filed.

  • You may contact the IRS and FTB to determine which years need to be filed;
  • You may create online accounts with the IRS and FTB to determine which years need to be filed;
  • You may have demand notcies from the IRS or FTB; or
  • We can contact the IRS and FTB on your behalf to determine the deliquent years
    • A fee does apply for this service‚Äč

Step 2: Obtain your tax documents and deductions. 

  • You may physically possess all of the necessary documents, which means no need for the following options; 
  • You may contact the IRS and FTB to obtain a "wage and income" transcript which shows all income reported; 
  • You may create an online account with the IRS and FTB to obtain a "wage and income" transcript which shows all income reported; or
  • We can contact the IRS and FTB on your behalf to obtain the "wage and income" transcripts.

Step 3: Our office prepares the tax documents for you.  If the returns are past the statute to e-file, we may have to paper file the returns, which does take longer to process.
